Onomatopoeia are words that are the imitation of sounds.

People

  • 아야 - Ouch!
  • 앗 - Oops!
  • 음 - Um...
  • 쉿! - Shh! Hush!
  • 엉엉 - Sound of crying (bawling)
  • 냠냠 / 쩝쩝 - Sound made when chewing food
    • 냠냠 is a cute sound(yum-yum??), but 쩝쩝 is a bad sound(Sound you make when you eat noisily) Yoou can also use 우걱우걱.
  • 꿀꺽꿀꺽 - gulp gulp
  • 쪽! - Sound of kiss (smack)
  • 짝짝짝 - Sound of clap
  • 쏙닥쏙닥 - Sound of whispering
  • 두근두근 - Sound and feeling of throbbing heart
  • 새근새근 - Breathing of a sleeping baby

  • 멍멍 - Bark of a dog
  • 야옹 - Meow of a cat
  • 꿀꿀 - Oink of a pig
  • 삐약삐약 - Chirping of a chick
  • 음메 - Baa of a sheep, moo of a cow
  • 붕붕/윙윙 - Buzz of a bee

  • 꼬끼오 - Cock-a-doodle-do of a rooster
  • 구구 - Sound of a pigeon
  • 짹짹 - Sound of a sparrow
  • 부엉부엉 - Hoo of an owl
  • 개골개골 - Ribbit of a frog
  • 찍찍 - Squeak of a mouse
