New page

Kyeong-eun: Hello, Seokjin.

Seokjin: Hello, Kyeong-eun.

Kyeong-eun: Why are you talking like that?

Seokjin: Do you know what today's topic is?

Kyeong-eun: What is it?

Seokjin: FEAR.

Kyeong-eun: Fear? Are there a lot of things you're afraid of?

Seokjin: I also have a lot of fears, if you get to know me.

Kyeong-eun: What, for example?

Seokjin: Darkness, actually, is really scary for me.

Kyeong-eun: Oh yeah?

Seokjin: Going in dark places alone is really scary.

Kyeong-eun: Oh yeah?

Seokjin: Yeah.

Kyeong-eun: But I think people'd be scared of you.

Seokjin: I think people would probably be scared of me when they're somewhere bright, but in dark places you can't see me well, can you? So people aren't scared of me, and when I was young, I met some groups of hoodlums a few times. Especially somewhere dark. So places that are a bit dark are a little scary.

Kyeong-eun: Wow, that's really interesting. Usually women are afraid of walking in dark places, but this is the first I've heard of men being like that.

Seokjin: There are men, too, who are afraid of dark places.

Kyeong-eun: Oh yeah? Seokjin—do you by any chance suffer from acrophobia?

Seokjin: I think I do, a little.

Kyeong-eun: What's acrophobia, again?

Seokjin: It's the phenomenon where it seems like you're going to fall for no reason when you go up high somewhere, where you feel that kind of fear.

Kyeong-eun: You have that, a little?

Seokjin: But I think I could probably bungee jump.

Kyeong-eun: People who have acrophobia can't bungee jump, can they?

Seokjin: Since I'm a man, since I'm a man I think I could. I think I could jump down. Since there's safety equipment and all. Kyeong-eun—if you go to Lotte World or Everland or that kind of place, there are rides where you fall from high places, aren't there? (Yeah, sure there are.) You've ridden those kinds of things, haven't you?

Kyeong-eun: Of course. I like them. I don't have acrophobia.

Seokjin: You don't? I asked thinking you did.

Kyeong-eun: No. I don't. It's fun, and I really like that kind of thing.

Seokjin: In that case, what are some things you're afraid of?

Kyeong-eun: For me, people could say it's just pretense or something, but it's for real. The scariest thing in the world for me is bugs.

Seokjin: Bugs are scary.

Kyeong-eun: Right. They are.

Seokjin: It's not pretending.

Kyeong-eun: But there are people who say that. That it's “just a show.”

Seokjin: While at home snatching up cockroaches with the palm of their hand.

Kyeong-eun: Usually if women say they hate bugs, men, or other people ask if you're just putting on a show like that in public while snatching up bugs at home, but to me it seems like bugs are going to grab me and eat me up. They're so awful. Bugs.

Seokjin: It's not because you were bit when you were little?

Kyeong-eun: It's not even that I'd had that kind of bad experience when I was little. It's just, bugs themselves are awful. Aren't they creepy?

Seokjin: Sure they are. Things like cockroaches are really creepy, sure.

Kyeong-eun: So they're so awful. The fear of bugs. It's a bit strange calling it a fear, but I have an usual hatred and fear of bugs compared to other people.

Seokjin: So now if you see a cockroach at your place, what do you do?

Kyeong-eun: I flee, of course. So, I used to share a room with my older sister. So she always caught the bugs, but now since I have a room to myself, if a bug comes out or something I run away. That's it. And wait until my family comes.

Seokjin: So they have insecticide, don't they? I think you should get an insecticide you can spray.

Kyeong-eun: I have some, but that's just awful too, of course. Since it's scary.

Seokjin: Ah, I see.

Kyeong-eun: And I can't watch scary movies.

Seokjin: Oh yeah?

Kyeong-eun: I used to watch those kinds of movies, but these days when I have nightmares a lot of the time they're scarier than the movies, so I hate scary movies, too.

Seokjin: As long as we're talking about dreams, have you ever had a scary dream that felt like it was really happening?

Kyeong-eun: I originally have those dreams a lot, so I guess I don't need to watch scary movies.

Seokjin: Ah, I see.

Kyeong-eun: But usually fears we call phobias, acrophobia and stuff, there are a few of those kinds of things, aren't there?

Seokjin: Sure.

Kyeong-eun: I've heard that there are people, too, who can't look at pointy things, aren't there? They say that there are those kinds of phobias, too.

Seokjin: And people who can't look at blood.

Kyeong-eun: Yeah. There are people who can't look at blood, and I've heard that there are loads of different phobias like that, but I'm curious whether our listeners happen to have any of those phobias. So like Seokjin, please tell us honestly.

Seokjin: Actually, I think you're scary, too.

Kyeong-eun: Hey now.

Seokjin: And I know that women are really afraid of walking in the dark alone. But from time to time, I've been in situations where I'm walking behind someone in the dark, and while a woman is walking ahead of me, she glances back at me and runs away.

Kyeong-eun: I think I could see that. So please be sure to leave us a comment, everyone. Have nice day.

Seokjin: Have a nice day.
