Description

Noun + 이/가 되다:

  1. This pattern means to become (Noun).

Notes

  • The conjugated form of 되어 can be contracted to 돼.
  • For verbs, you must use: V + 게 되다

Conjugation Rule

  • The subject marker 이/가 is added to the noun, followed by the verb 되다.
    • If the noun ends in a consonant, add 이.
    • If the noun ends in a vowel, add 가.

Rule 1: Noun + 가 되다 If there is no 받침 or if the adjective/verb stem has ㄹ as a 받침 부자가 되다
Rule 2: Noun + 이 되다 If there is a 받침 at the end of the adjective/verb stem 학생이 되다
