Description
Verb + 는 법:
- Used to indicate that some action or state is already established or expected. It is often used when stating natural laws, universal truths, or general principles. It is also often used in Korean proverbs
- This pattern means "how to (verb)."
Notes
- 법 is conjugated with 이다
- For the meaning to indicate that some action or state is already established or expected, there are some usage restrictions:
- You can't use this for specific subjects, it needs to be something general.
- 우리 엄마는 (X) - your mom specifically
- 엄마들은 (O) - moms in general
- For the negative form, use -지 않다
- 하지 않은 법이다
- You cannot use this for questions, imperatives (e.g. commands), or propositive sentences
- 하는 법입니까? (X) - question
- 하는 법입시다 (X) - propositive
- 하는 법이십시오 (X) - imperative
