Description

Verb + (으)ㅂ시다 : This grammar pattern is used formally to express a proposition, suggestion, or an order to a group of at least two speakers in which the speaker is included. This is equivalent to saying "Let's (verb)" in English.

Notes

  • The informal and low form is V + 자
  • Saying '길 좀 물읍시다' to a person can also mean 'give me directions' (as opposed to 'let's ask for directions'). This is usually used by people over 50 years old and can otherwise sound rude.
  • The expression itself is mostly used by people in higher social position to people in lower social position. You don't use expressions such as '이제 일합시다' to a person senior to you.
