Description
Adjective + 게: Adding 게 to a Korean adjective makes it function as an adverb.
Notes
- The adverbs should be placed immediately before whatever it modifies.
- Some of the adverbs used in Korean might sound awkward if literally translated in English, for example '맛있게 먹어요' means eat deliciously.
- Many adverbs have their own form and don't need to be combined with this grammar.
Conjugation Rule
Pattern | Case | Example | |
---|---|---|---|
Rule 1: | Adjective + 게 | If there is no 받침 or if the adjective/verb stem has ㄹ as a 받침 | 크다 → 크게 |
Rule 2: | Adjective + 게 | If there is a 받침 at the end of the adjective/verb stem | 늦다 → 늦게 |
