Verb + 게 하다 : This patterns turns a regular verb into a causative verb. For more information on causative verbs, see: Causative form.

Conjugation Rule
	Pattern	Case	Example
Rule 1:	Verb + 게 하다	If there is no 받침 or if the adjective/verb stem has ㄹ as a 받침	가다 → 가게 하다
Rule 2:	Verb + 게 하다	If there is a 받침 at the end of the adjective/verb stem	먹다 → 먹게 하다

철수는 항상 우리를 웃게 합니다.	Chul Su always makes us laugh.	formal form
학생들에게 책을 읽게 했어요.	I made the students read the book.	polite informal form
의사가 환자를 침대에 눕게 하였어요.	The doctor had the patient lay down on the bed.	polite informal form
엄마가 동생에게 감기약을 먹게 했어요.	My mother had my sister take some cold medicine.	polite informal form
그 사람이 나를 슬프게 했어.	He made me sad.	low form
엄마가 동생에게 예쁜 옷을 입게 했어요.	My mother had my sister wear pretty clothes.	polite informal form
선생님이 철수를 일찍 집에 가게 했어요.	The teacher had that Chul Su go home early.	polite informal form
의사가 동생에게 안경을 쓰게 했어요.	The doctor made my sister wear glasses.	polite informal form
노무현 대통령의 죽음이 우리를 슬프게 합니다.	President Noh's death made us sad.	formal form
방을 너무 춥게 해서 감기에 걸렸어.	I caught a cold because I made the room too cold.	low form
