줄 Refers to a certain situation or fact. This is very comprehensive in possible meaning.

Although the "몰랐다" refers directly to " I didn't know" It can also be accurately translated as " I was unware" "I was uncertain" etc.

A/V + (으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ 줄 몰랐다 : Description

Conjugation Rule

Rule 1:		If there is no 받침 or if the adjective/verb stem has ㄹ as a 받침
Rule 2:		If there is a 받침 at the end of the adjective/verb stem

비가 오는 줄 모르고, 우산을 안 가지고 나왔어.	I didn't know it was going to rain so I left without an umbrella
차가 이렇게 막힐 줄 몰랐어.	I didn't know the car would be this fill
우리가 다시 만날 줄 몰랐어요.	I didn't know we would meet again
날씨가 이렇게 더울 줄 몰랐어.	I didn't know it would be this hot	Low form (반말) 덥다 is an irregular ㅂ verb

When the pattern is A/V + (으)ㄹ 줄 몰랐다, due to consonant assimilation rules, 줄 gets pronounced as 쭐.
