*Are you new? Check out the welcome page and getting started pages you will find more detailed information about this project and how to use this wik. about Commons and how you can contribute to the project. All information is available in English, and most of it is available in other languages too. You can browse the languages by clicking on the language of your choice in the menu that is displayed at the top of each page.

*The sidebar has now been translated into Korean with links to their respective Korean pages, you can either change your default language to Korean to see, or just click here to see a preview without changing your settings. --Bluesoju 02:25, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

*1000th article created on September 13th. Hangeul project has been delayed due to having to find a new person to voice the entire project -- sorry about that! I'd really like to get it done, just have to find someone with a good voice. --Bluesoju 15:04, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

*We've started the major construction on the learn hangeul section!  It's a huge project, so it will take some time.  Chris is going to get the sounds for the letter and word examples.  We've decided to NEVER use romanization except for including it so that people know how to read from or transcribe to romanization.  We feel that anyone using this site should learn directly from listening to sounds connected with the characters. Both Chris and I feel strongly that learners of Korean should only rely on listening and mimicking sound rather than using an English-equivalent that doesn't sound exactly like the correct Korean pronunciation.  Learning like how children do (without romanization) can serve you the best and stop bad habits from forming. I think we're going in a great direction! --Mstrum 19:38, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
 +
*Once again we've added a new section which glues together information already entered into the wiki.  Although only the Music section is available right now, you will be able to read, view, listen, and watch many forms of Korean media and study the grammar forms and vocabulary directly in the text itself and in lists along side the main content. Learning through modern media is one of the best methods to learn both language and culture tips. --Mstrum 05:06, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

*We've just started working on a new feature that is completely unique to our wiki!  One of the best ways to learn vocabulary is to learn the Chinese roots.  Many times you can guess what words mean if you know both roots or even if you just know one.  Now you can click on individual characters from many words to see other terms that use the same root. The root pages are a work in progress, but all of the words starting with a ㄱ are done, so try clicking on a word from Subway --Mstrum 03:31, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
 +
*We are currently working on a great new tool to help beginners learn how to conjugate verbs and to know about pronunciation changes. It's in major development so many conjugations and pronunciations might be wrong.  As we find errors we will fix them, so please be patient.  You can check it out here. -Mstrum 15:18, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Help out

The Korean Wiki Project will be the largest online source for the Korean language. However, in order for that to happen we need great users like you who edit and add content. Find a subject that you are interested in or create a whole new section.

Things to do

Main page: to do

 • Create new content in any of the major categories on the navigation on the left side of the page. Your editing can range from adding to what's already there, fixing mistakes, creating new pages not available, all the way to adding totally new sections if you're feeling adventurous.
 • Have any ideas? Give us any on the Brainstorm page. Wikis work best when talent comes from the many different walks of life. Every person has something unique to contribute.
 • Are you a graphics designer or artist? Photographer? Korean movie/drama know it all? You might be able to create or recommend media items on the requested media page.

Special:ContributionScores/10/30

Open tasks

 • Media is a new category which could use more sections and content. One good example is 2NE1 - I Don't Care which shows how you should format new pages.
 • Help expend the vocabulary pages
 • Chinese Roots can always be expanded on. Test out your knowledge of Chinese roots and contribute where there's holes.
 • Translation of available templates into supported languages.
 • Add PAGENAME to the bottom of all pages
 • Add All needs to be checked to the top of all pages ready to be checked by a native
 • Words with Chinese roots need to have double brackets added around them. This applies to vocabulary in the Vocabulary section or from any other place around the wiki.
 • Check out the stubs category for pages needing major work.
