I'm using this talk page to propose a format for the Hangeul pages. This section should be completed in the very near future as it's frequently visited. -WikiSysop 16:43, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Learning Hangeul

I propose a 6 step program for learning Hangeul.

  • Each step will teach you 3-5 vowels and 3-5 consonants depending on the step. For example first step might teach the person ㄱ,ㄴ,ㄷ,ㅁ (consonants) and 아, 어, 이.
  • These pages won't go into detail too much and will teach the basic pronunciation.
  • Show the stroke order for characters
  • Audio clips for individual sounds (must be voiced by a native speaker).
  • Audio clips for words in the section (must be voiced by a native speaker).
  • Gradually introduce things like 받침 sounds

Steps

Possible steps:

I'd like it to explain the easier sounds first.

Individual pages

Each Hangeul letter(자모) should have a detailed page:

  • Basic sound
  • Sound in the initial position (with audio)
  • Sound in the middle position (with audio)
  • Sound in the final 받침 position (with audio)
  • Other sounds this letter is capable of making (i.e. through consonant assimilation)
  • Background information on the character, for example where it was derived from.
  • IPA
  • Stroke order diagram
  • Stroke order animation
  • Links to any consonant assimilation rule that applies to this character
  • Plenty of examples with audio
