Vocabulary words related to school and being in the classroom.

General

• 결석(하다) - Absence, to be absent
• 기일 엄수 - Due date
• 반 - Class. For example "우리 반 친구" means my classroom friend.
• 반장 - Class leader
• 복습(하다) - Review, to review
• 성적 - Final grade
• 손을 들다 - To raise your hand

• 시험 - Test
• 신임교사 - New teacher
• 쉬는 시간 - Break time
• 오타, 타이핑 실수 – Typo
• 원어민 선생 - Native language teacher
• 점수 - Grade, score
• 제출하다 - To turn in (something)
• 주목하다 - To pay attention
• 중간고사 - Midterm exam
• 지각(하다) - tardy, to be late
• 참여 - Participation
• 퇴실하다 - To kick out, throw out (someone)
• 학교 - School
• 학기말 시험 - Final exam

Types of schools

• 초등학교 - Elementary school
• 중등학교 - Middle school
• 고등학교 - High school
• 대학교 - University
• 어학당 - Language school
• 학원 - Educational institutes where Korean students go to learn after school and do extra studying on a certain topic or skill.

Positions

The honorific title 님 should be added when directly addressing these people to show more respect.

• 부장(님) - Department head
• 선생(님) - Teacher
• 샘 - A contraction for 선생 (very informal)
• 교수(님) - A professor
• 박사(님) - A doctor, a PhD holder.
• 교장 / 교장선생님 - Principal
• 교감 / 교감선생님 - Vice Principal
